Page 1 of the November 4, 1914 edition of the Bloomington Evening World reads, in part: "Kappa Alpha Nu...has just leased the property at 721 Hunter Avenue...The house, a new modern structure has been furnished throughout, and the men are now comfortably lodged...The members...in school this year are Grant, Johnson, Proctor, Summers, Skelton, Smith, Diggs, Anderson, Ghan and Ballou. The pledges are Jessie Peters, Sebastian Merriweather, Clarence Marshall, Homes Wales, [and] Walter Skinner...The organization now issues a quarterly publication known as the Kappa Alpha Nu Journal. It is a wide-awake progressive journal that does credit to negro college men. Frank Summers of Bloomington is editor-in-chief of this journal and E. W. Diggs is business manager..." Note: Kappa Alpha Nu was formed on January 5, 1911. On January 1, 1915 the name was changed to Kappa Alpha Psi. See also: Alpha Kappa Nu. |
