The caption reads, in part: "As each American war vessel completes a mission, it dumps into waiting cargo vessels used shells...which finds its way to Crane Naval Ammunition Depot. It must be sorted and refilled...Hundreds of University students...are arising before dawn on Saturdays and Sundays to go to Crane by bus to sort this material and keep the shell filling lines moving..."
