In 1983, Bailey and his wife, Diane Blackmon Bailey, created Bailey Broadcasting Services (BBS) and RadioScope: the Entertainment Magazine of the Air , a syndicated radio show. Scope and Content Note

The collection consists primarily of audio tapes of two radio programs produced by Bailey Broadcasting Services: The Hip Hop Countdown & Report (1991-1998) and RadioScope: The Entertainment Magazine of the Air (1990-1996). Press releases for RadioScope broadcasts are also included.

The Hip Hop Countdown & Report is a weekly 90-minute radio program that plays the top ten rap songs in the nation as determined by The Gavin Report's "Radio Rap and Rap Retail Chart," which debuted on September 28, 1990. In addition to music, the program includes news segments and artist interviews. Mike Mosbe was the regular host from 1990-1997 along with The Poetess (a.k.a. Felicia Morris). Mock the Minister and Sheree Saunders became the hosts in 1997. Popular rap artists also frequently co-hosted the shows.
