Abstract
Consists of audio cassette tapes of
interviews conducted by Joe Toyoshima in 1966 as an oral history of Sinclair. Also
included are photocopies of articles relating to Liberty Hill, to the dockworkers'
strike of 1923, and to the Industrial Workers of the World. One of the articles,
accompanied by three color photographs, details the Liberty Hill Commemorative Marker
dedicated as California State Historical Monument No. 1021, May 9, 1998, the 75th
anniversary of the dockworkers' strike at San Pedro/Los Angeles Harbor. A cassette of
songs of the I.W.W. and of migrant workers, four of which are compositions by Joe Hill,
completes the collection.

Upton Sinclair, 1878-1968, was an U.S. author and social reformer.
Scope and Content Note
Consists of audio cassette tapes of interviews conducted by Joe Toyoshima in 1966 as an
oral history of Sinclair. Also included are photocopies of articles relating to Liberty
Hill, to the dockworkers' strike of 1923, and to the Industrial Workers of the World.
