Biographical Note
Following service in the Navy during and after World War II, Pendleton had various
positions in the engineering field before turning to writing as a full-time occupation.
He wrote mystery and crime fiction, science-fiction, suspense, short stories,
non-fiction, and poetry. He published more than 125 books over his long career and his
works have been translated into more than twenty-five languages. He is best known for
the character Mack Bolan, featured in his
Executioner
series. He produced 38 titles in the series between 1969 and 1980, all published by
Pinnacle Books. He subsequently produced two other, shorter series,
Joe Copp (private eye) published by Donald I. Fine Inc., and
Ashton Ford (psychic detective) published by Warner
Books. Prior to the first
Executioner volume, he
published six novels under the pseudonym Stephan Gregory, with the main character being
Stewart Mann. He also wrote one fiction and three non-fiction works with his wife Linda
Pendleton.
To Dance with Angels, non-fiction, appeared in
1990; the other three were published posthumously.
