Biographical Note
Charles Greenleaf Bell was born in 1916 in Greenville, Mississippi; educated at the
University of Virginia and Oxford University; and has taught English and poetry at
various colleges and universities since the 1940s. He presently resides in Santa Fe,
New Mexico and is still associated with St. John's College there.

The Notes and correspondence series includes materials about Simone Weil. Writings
include drafts and proofs of Bell’s literary works.
