The sketch it contains was written some fourteen years ago, when you were a clerk in my office, and I did not suppose it would ever be presented in a more durable form. But as you retained a copy, took it with you on your various pilgrimages, and during the Christmas season read it to strangers even at the Antipodes, it seems to be yours more than mine, and I thus bestow it upon you. Mr. EDWARD S.
