Abstract
Indiana University Student Television
(IUSTV) began in 2002 under the name of iuTV and serves as Indiana University’s only
student managed and produced student television station. The mission of IUSTV is to
create informative, entertaining, and inspiring broadcast-quality television for the
Indiana University and Bloomington community, while at the same time giving students
real-life experience in television production and related fields. Records in this
collection include administrative information, correspondence, meeting agendas,
program lineups, and other related materials.

Administrative History
Indiana University Student Television (IUSTV) began in 2002 and serves as Indiana
University’s only student-managed and produced television station. The concept for
IUSTV was created by graduate student Kieran Farr in 2002. After Farr and others
lobbied the University for space and funding, the organization moved into the former
Ashton Campus Card Services offices in 2003, with funding from a newly created
mandatory student activity fee. Also in 2003, the organization changed its name from
iuTV to IUSTV to comply with a request from IU Radio and Television Services,
operator of PBS affiliate WTIU, the leaders of which were concerned about the
potential for confusion. In accordance with this name change, IUSTV launched its new
and current web site, iustv.com. IUSTV is now located in the Read Center and
continues to produce television programming.

Scope and Content Note
This small collection is organized into one series, Administrative files, and the
folders are arranged alphabetically by folder title. The collection consists of
various documents about the history and activities of Indiana University Student
Television (IUSTV), from 2005-2007. Much of the collection consists of meeting
agendas and administrative information, which include mission statements, and a
detailed project summary, amongst other items. The collection also contains some
correspondence, semester program lineups, an audition list and application, and a
report of a study of student television stations conducted by two IUSTV student
executives in 2006.
