Abstract
The Ethnomusicology Students Association
was established at Indiana University in 1978. The goal of the organization was to
develop and promote programs and activities for students interested in the field of
ethnomusicology. The Collection consists of meeting agendas and minutes, program
flyers and planning materials, and correspondence.

Administrative History
The Ethnomusicology Students Association (ESA) was created in 1978 to provide an
opportunity for Indiana University students interested in ethnomusicology to share
their common interests, develop publications, and promote programs. Activities of
the group include hosting an annual ethnomusicology film festival, begun in 1983,
and starting a world music show on WIUS, which later moved to Bloomington’s
community radio station, WFHB.

The collection is organized into one series of Administrative files, arranged
alphabetically by folder title.
Scope and Content Note
Organized in a single series of Administrative files, this collection spans the
period from 1973 through 1999. It consists of agendas, minutes, financial
statements, and correspondence. It also includes project proposals, program lists,
and program plans, including the ATM Noon Concert Series, dance workshops, lectures
and the annual film festival. Also housed in the collection are founding documents,
1977-1979, including correspondence with faculty supervisors and an application for
a student organization account.
