Abstract
The Married Students' Club was a social
club for married students and faculty members of Indiana University. The ledger
includes the Constitution of the club, amendments, meeting minutes, and financial
statements.

Administrative History
The Married Students' Club was founded in 1895. It was originally referred to as the
Married Folk's Club and was only open to married members of the senior class. By
1905 membership had expanded to any married student or instructor at Indiana
University. It was considered a social club for married couples that focused on
building friendships between participants while also allowing the couples to improve
upon their own marriages.

The collection consists of one ledger.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of a single ledger of the Club, spanning 1905-1918. The
ledger opens with a short historical note on the organization and is followed by the
Constitution and a section for amendments. The remainder of the book consists of
meeting minutes and financial statements.

Book sent to Club member Everitt Emerson Morley (AM Education 1918) January 1918
by Flossie Beghtel, who had served as the Club’s secretary. It is not clear how
the book came to be part of the Archives collection.
