Abstract
Delmas E. Aldridge was a member of the
Indiana University wrestling team from 1929-1932. He collected newspaper articles,
photographs, and correspondence related to the team and compiled the materials into
a scrapbook.

Biographical Note
Delmas Eilar Aldridge was born on January 5, 1911 in Atlanta, Indiana, to Blaine
Charles Aldridge and Edna Phoebe Eilar. Aldridge graduated from Kokomo High School
in 1928 and then attended Indiana University, where he was a member of the wrestling
team from 1929-1932. In 1931, he was declared Big Ten champion in his weight class
(one hundred and eighteen pounds) and was elected co-captain of the team in 1932.
Aldridge died on March 22, 2003 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This collection consists of a scrapbook of clippings from the
Indiana Daily Student, the
Bloomington Evening
World
, the
Indianapolis Star, and other
newspapers collected by Delmas Aldridge from 1929-1932 about the Indiana University
wrestling team. The scrapbook also includes photographs of the Indiana University
wrestling team and photographs of wrestlers from other universities during 1929-1932
as well as correspondence with former Indiana University wrestlers up to 1979.
Also present is a poster of the 1930 Big Ten Final Championship
Meet between Indiana University and the University of Illinois.
