BOOK, WILLIAM FREDERICK: 1873-1940.
William Frederick Book, son of Christian Henry and Mary Elizabeth Bussdicker Book, was born in Princeton, Ind., on June 10, 1873. He graduated from Indiana University in 1900, receiving the Ph.D. degree from Clark University in 1906. He also studied at the University of Chicago and at Columbia. After the death of his first wife, Mary Roach Cougle, whom he married in 1907, he married Clara D. King, on June 3, 1926.
From 1906 to 1912 he was a professor of psychology at the University of Montana, in 1912-13 he was professor of educational psychology at Indiana University, and from 1913 to 1917 he was director of vocational education in Indiana. After 1917 he was a member of the faculty of Indiana University as professor of psychology and director of the Psychological Laboratory. He lectured at other universities and was editor of the JOURNAL OF APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY.
