Abstract
The Deam Wilderness mss., 1963-1988,
consists of papers collected by Claude Ferguson, Supervisor of the Hoosier National
Forest, during the founding and designation process of the Charles C. Deam
Wilderness as Indiana's only Federal Wilderness area.

Scope and Content Note
The Deam Wilderness mss., 1963-1988, consists of papers collected by Claude Ferguson,
Supervisor of the Hoosier National Forest, during the founding and designation
process of the Charles C. Deam Wilderness as Indiana's only Federal Wilderness area.
The bulk of the materials are dated 1973-1982, from the approximate start of the
formal designation process to approval of the bill by President Ronald Reagan.
